Monday

Billy Bob James Versteegh, 109 W. Webster St., made an initial appearance on a burglary-second degree charge and a burglary-third degree charge. The public defender's office was appointed to handle his case. The preliminary hearing is set for 1 p.m. on Nov. 6. Bond is set at $10,000 cash only.

Henry Segovia, address unknown, made an initial appearance on a violation of a no-contact order charge. The court appointed Chad Frese as counsel. The contempt hearing will be scheduled by the District Court as its docket permits. The court ordered that if Segovia owned or possessed any firearms or ammunition he is to contact the Marshall County Sheriff's Office within 24 hours to make arrangements to surrender them. Segovia was released on his own recognizance. A new no-contact order was issued for the protected party.

Jessica Hartwig, address unknown, made an initial appearance on a absence from custody charge. The public defender's office was appointed to handle her case. The preliminary hearing is set for 1 p.m. on Nov. 6. Bond is set at $5,000 cash only.

Monica Vazquez-Alcaraz, address unknown, made an initial appearance through counsel, Roger Owens, on a driving while revoked charge. The preliminary hearing was waived. Vazquez-Alcaraz was released on her own recognizance.

Incidents

On Saturday, Lauri Warner, 412 S. Third St. Apt. #2, reported the theft of a cell phone from her residence valued at $125.21.

On Friday, Hector Hernandez, 500 Woodbury St., reported the theft of various pieces of gold jewelry from his residence. Estimated value of loss was $1,500.

On Thursday, it was reported that a bridal ring, a diamond ring and a Fugi digital camera was stolen from 400 E. Boone St. Estimated value of loss was $4,201.44.

On Oct. 21, Amber Dalynn Kelly, 310 Thunderbird Drive, reported hit and run damage to the driver's side rear bumper on a Chevy Cobalt while parked at 50 LaFrenz Lane. Estimated value of damage was $500.

On Saturday, Teandra Lynn Hausafus, of Liscomb, was cited for operating while intoxicated-first offense.

Arrests

On Sunday, Cristian Coury, 1911 Bailey Drive, was arrested for operating while intoxicated-first offense.

On Saturday, Casey Martin Cook, 1311 Marsh Ave., was arrested for possession of drug paraphernalia and possession of a Schedule I controlled substance-marijuana.

On Saturday, Cesar Fernando Marroquin, 610 W. State St. Apt. #4, was arrested for providing false identification, operating while intoxicated-first offense and false reports to or communications with public safety entities.

On Friday, Jillissa Grothe, 703 S. Ninth Ave., was arrested for public intoxication.

On Friday, Darren C. Ancelet, Homeless, was arrested for public intoxication and possession of drug paraphernalia.

On Thursday, Tyler Viluck Bounmy, address unknown, was arrested for burglary-third degree, using a juvenile to commit certain offenses and interference with official acts.

On Oct. 11, Jose Manuel Ordaz-Rios, Homeless, was arrested for burglary-third degree.

Accidents

On Sunday, a car driven by a 16-year-old male juvenile from Marshalltown was westbound on Westwood Drive when it struck a mailbox owned by Ann Heying, 610 Westwood Drive. No injuries were reported. The 16-year-old was cited for violation of instruction permit limitation. Damage to the juvenile's car was estimated at $2,000 while the Heying mailbox received an estimated $50 in damage.

On Thursday, a car driven by Crystal Deanne Pinney, 207 N. 13th St., was northbound on South Third Avenue in the right hand lane when it ran into a traffic control device arrow and dragged a traffic cone underneath the car until it stopped in a nearby parking lot. No injuries were reported. Pinney was cited for striking fixtures, failure to obey a traffic control device, failure to have a valid license or permit while operating a motor vehicle and no insurance. Damage to the Pinney car was estimated at $8,000 while the traffic control device received an estimated $3,500 in damage.

On Oct. 11, Bradley Dean Johnson, of Rhodes, reported the theft of a utility trailer from his residence. Estimated value of loss was $1,000.

Arrests

On Oct. 17, Andrea Josephine Thompson, 308 Plaza Heights Road Apt. #4, was arrested for two counts of violation of a no-contact order.

On Oct. 15, Joshua Dean Lanfier, of Muscatine, was arrested for contempt.

On Sunday, Oct. 13, Raelynn Frances McVay, of Grinnell, was arrested for contempt of court.

On Oct. 12, Eduardo Contreras-Ordaz, 209 Sharon Ave., was arrested for driving while suspended and excessive speed.

On Oct. 11, Deven Ray Spinks, of Toledo, was arrested for four counts of probation violation.

On Oct. 8, Larry Edwin Gwinn, of Le Grand, was arrested for possession of drug equipment.

On Oct. 8, Cheri Lynn Briggs, of Le Grand, was arrested for possession of a Schedule II controlled substance, possession of drug equipment and interference with official acts.

Accidents

On Oct. 9, a car driven by Joanna Michelle Smart, of Kelley, was westbound in the north lane on Highway 30 when in response to the driver falling asleep it collided with the rear of a bean wagon being pulled by a tractor driven by Darwin Dean Funke, of State Center, near Cooper Avenue. Smart was transported to Marshalltown Medical & Surgical Center. Smart was cited for failure to maintain control. Damage to the Smart car was estimated at $1,500 while the Funke bean wagon received an estimated $6,000 in damage.

Sunday

The Marshalltown Fire Department responded to an outside rubbish fire at 510 S. Sixth St., a building fire at 412 N. 12th Ave., three unauthorized burnings at: 1505 W. State St., 107 Taft St., and 1802 S. Seventh Ave., and six medical assists with the EMS crew to: 324 Harrison Drive, 915 W. Merle Hibbs Blvd., 211 W. Church St., 915 W. Merle Hibbs Blvd., 1 W. Webster St., and 2510 S. Sixth St.

Saturday

The Marshalltown Fire Department responded to six medical assists with the EMS crew to: 111 S. First St., 504 W. Iowa Ave., 516 N. 15th St., 20 W. Iowa Ave., 7 S. Fifth St., 809 Washington St.

Friday

The Marshalltown Fire Department responded to three medical assists with the EMS crew to: 102 S. Seventh Ave., 311 N. 15th Ave., and 1108 Iowa Ave. West.

Oct. 24

The Marshalltown Fire Department responded to an alarm system activation-no fire-unintentional at 112 College Drive, and five medical assists with the EMS crew to: 611 E. South St., 616 W. Boone St., 202 N. Second Ave., and two at 704 N. Center St.
