Bobcat girls go ice cold at Boone

BOONE - A night after notching a season-high scoring output, the Marshalltown girls' basketball team went cold in suffering a 42-32 loss to host Boone.

The Bobcats (2-2) were led by Sam Hughes with 10 points and Amanda Hughes with eight, but the team shot 13-for-26 from the free-throw line.

Boone (3-1) made a pair of 3-pointer lates in the third quarter to pass up Marshalltown, taking a 27-24 lead into the final quarter. The Toreadors outscored MHS 15-8 in the final frame to collect the non-conference victory.

Mariah McPartland scored 12 points to pace Boone, Dianna Slight had 10 and Taylor Johnson added eight. Carrie Overland made a pair of 3-pointers for six points.

Rachel Blagg pitched in with six points for Marshalltown, who play a Central Iowa Conference contest on Tuesday night at Class 5A No. 5 West Des Moines Valley.
