FREEPORT, Ill. - The Marshalltown Community College men's basketball team's season-high three-game winning streak came to a close at the hands of tournament host Highland CC on Sunday afternoon as the Tigers fell 93-67 in the championship game of the Baymont Inn Classic.

Jamal Gatali led MCC in scoring for the third game in a row, matching his career-high with 21 points. He scored 15 in the second half as the Tigers tried to rally.

Tyrese Hoxter netted 14 points while Marquis Cunningham had a career-best 10 points in the MCC defeat.

Highland CC (7-3) is coached by former Marshalltown CC assistant Nathan Courtney.

The Tigers (6-5) are back in action with three games this week, starting with Tuesday's road trip to Southwestern CC. Marshalltown hosts NJCAA Division II No. 5-ranked Ellsworth on Wednesday night, and Iowa Lakes visits the Student Activity Center on Saturday.
