Woman arrested for assaulting boyfriend

A local woman who allegedly grabbed her live-in boyfriend by the necklace and then hit him in the face was arrested.

Lea E. Waseskuk, 23, was arrested Monday on the 700 block of Roberts Terrace after the alleged incident took place in their home.

According to police, Waseskuk was in an argument with her boyfriend when he was trying to get some of his things from the house. The argument led to the alleged assault as he was trying to leave.

The victim had a cut on his neck and a minor injury to his lip. Waseskuk was charged with serious domestic assault, a serious misdemeanor.

Man scratches woman in front of child

A local man who scratched a woman in the face in front of their 1-year-old child has been arrested.

Dan Vasquez-Sanchez, 28, was arrested Thursday on the 300 block of Plaza Heights Road, after the alleged assault took place.

According to police, Vasquez-Sanchez was arguing with the victim which led to the alleged assault, leaving scratch marks on her face.

Vasquez-Sanchez was charged with serious domestic assault, a serious misdemeanor and child endangerment without injury, an aggravated misdemeanor.

Arrests

On Dec. 2, Anthony Diamond, age 44, of Conrad, was arrested in Grundy Center for driving while license is revoked. He posted bond and was released.

On Dec. 2, Michael Heggebo, age 18, of Waterloo, was arrested by Black Hawk County authorities on a Grundy County warrant charging him with probation violation. He is being held on no bond.

On Dec. 1, Aaron Claassen, age 24, of Grundy Center, was arrested in Grundy Center and charged with public intoxication-second offense. He was released on promise to appear.

On Nov. 28, Brent Smeins, age 40, of Dike, was arrested in Dike and charged with serious assault. He was released on promise to appear.

On Nov. 27, Michelle Houlgrave, age 44, of Aplington, was arrested at the intersection of Highway 57 and T-55 and charged with operating while intoxicated-second offense. She was released on promise to appear.

On Nov. 25, Andrew Slifer, age 26, of Reinbeck, was arrested in Reinbeck and charged with public intoxication-third offense. He was released on promise to appear.

Accidents

On Thursday, a car driven by a 15-year-old female from Holland was northbound on Highway 14 nearing 210th Street when it attempted to pass a tractor driven by Brandon Van Loh, age 33, of Wellsburg, at the moment the tractor initiated a left turn onto 210th Street and a collision occurred. No injuries were reported. The juvenile was cited for passing at an intersection. Damage to the juvenile's car was estimated at $3,500.

On Dec. 4, a vehicle driven by Timothy Gregory, age 24, of Lafayette, Ind., was northbound on M Avenue just north of D-35 when it went through a stop sign, due to fog, began evasive action and jack-knifed his trailer just north of the intersection. No injuries were reported. Damage to the Gregory vehicle was estimated at $4,200.

On Dec. 3, a car driven by Jeffery Henley, age 57, of Stout, was eastbound on 160th Street east of S Avenue when it struck a deer that entered the roadway. No injuries were reported. Damage to the Henley car was estimated at $1,500.

On Nov. 26, a vehicle driven by Candy Voss, age 50, of Parkersburg, was northbound on Highway 14 just south of 110th Street when a deer entered the roadway and was struck. No injuries were reported. Damage to the Voss vehicle was estimated at $3,500.

On Nov. 25, a vehicle driven by Connie Diamond, age 63, of Conrad, was southbound on T-19 south of Wellsburg when it struck a deer that entered the traveled portion of the roadway. No injuries were reported. Damage to the Diamond vehicle was estimated at $1,500.

On Nov. 23, a vehicle driven by Blake Carolus, age 18, of Parkersburg, was westbound on 110th Street one mile east of J Avenue when it went out of control on a curve and rolled into the north ditch coming to rest on its side. No injuries were reported. Carolus was cited for failure to maintain control. Damage to the Carolus vehicle was estimated at $5,000.

On Nov. 22, a vehicle driven by Vernon Harms, age 59, of Conrad, was eastbound on West Center Street in Conrad when it struck a deer on the road. No injuries were reported. Damage to the Harms vehicle was estimated at $3,000.

Sunday

The Marshalltown Fire Department responded to a passenger vehicle fire at 106 College Drive, a smoke scare, odor of smoke at 429 Swayze St., a dispatched/cancelled en route to 3000 Highway 30, an unauthorized controlled burning at 311 Orchard Drive, and three medical assists with the EMS crew to: 303 E. Ferner St., 3202 S. 12th St., and 910 E. Olive St.

Saturday

The Marshalltown Fire Department responded to a dispatched/cancelled en route to 812 E. State St., a gas leak at 125 S. 11th St., an unintentional transmission of alarm at 112 College Drive, a good intent call to 103 Harmony Drive, and three medical assists with the EMS crew to: 808 S. Fifth Ave., 208 Nicholas Drive, and 1 W. Grant St.

Friday

The Marshalltown Fire Department responded to an extrication of victims from vehicle at 1700 Highway 330, two alarm system activation-no fire-unintentional at 4 E. Main St., and 1602 S. Second Ave., a smoke scare, odor of smoke at 916 E. Main St., and two medical assists with the EMS crew to 1702 Governor Road, and 2907 S. Sixth St.

Thursday

The Marshalltown Fire Department responded to an alarm system sounded due to malfunction at 1602 S. Second Ave., and an outside rubbish fire at 806 S. Fifth Ave.
