Two Marshalltown residents have been arrested by the Marshalltown Police Department in connection with a string of burglaries that occurred from Nov. 29 to Dec. 2 at four businesses.

Jimmy Austgen, 45, and Ashley Campbell, 28, have been arrested and charged with stealing items from Verizon Wireless, 3109 S. Center St. on Nov. 29, the Purple Cherry, 6 W. Iowa Ave. on Dec. 1, the Dollar Tree store, 101 W. Iowa Ave. on Dec. 2 and the Marshalltown Wal-Mart on Dec. 2.

While investigating the Wal-Mart theft, MPD officers were able to locate the two individuals involved living in the Wal-Mart area which led them to the recovery of items taken from Verizon Wireless. Additional information provided by a citizen led them to the location of property taken from the Purple Cherry, the Dollar Tree store and Verizon Wireless.

Austgen and Campbell are both charged with first degree theft, two counts of burglary in the third degree, theft in the second degree and the fourth degree.

Both are being held in the Marshall County Jail. Anyone with additional information is asked to contact the Marshalltown Police Department at 641-754-5725.
