Wanted woman arrested, found with drugs

An Albion woman who was on warrant was arrested after she was escorted out of a local grocery store and found with drugs in her possession.

Erika D. Bracy, 34, was arrested Monday inside Hy-Vee, 802 S. Center St., after an off-duty officer recognized her for being wanted in Hardin County for a probation violation charge.

According to police, once officers arrived Bracy was inside the store. Officers attempted to escort her out after they informed her of the warrant, she resisted and was handcuffed.

Inside her car, officers found a baggy of marijuana, a pipe and a scale. There was also loose marijuana in her purse.

Bracy is charged with interference with official acts, possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Woman yells, screams while holding child

A local woman who was yelling and screaming at her child's father outside while holding their 1-year-old child has been arrested.

Tomarra Jo McManus, 32, was arrested Tuesday in the parking lot of the Sundance Apartments, 1407 S. Seventh Ave., once officers were dispatched after residents of the apartments called for a noise complaint.

According to police, McManus was standing in the parking lot of the apartment arguing with her boyfriend about their breakup. As she was arguing with him she was holding their child who was only wearing a onesie.

Officers attempted to calm McManus down and asked her to let go of the child. She refused to comply with the officers.

McManus is charged with child endangerment without injuries, interference with official acts and disorderly conduct.

Arrests

On Monday, Darious Dewane Martinez Coleman, homeless, was arrested for trespass.

On Monday, Blake William Blume, homeless, was arrested for trespass.

On Monday, Jeremy Dean Davis, address unknown, was arrested for two counts of burglary-third degree and criminal mischief-fifth degree.

Accidents

On Monday, a car driven by Dillon James Horn, 1 W. Grant St. Apt. #202, was northbound on South Seventh Street approaching the intersection with East Anson Street and couldn't stop due to the snowy roadway causing it to collide with a car driven by Benjamin Lee Walters, of Conrad, which was traveling east on Anson. No injuries were reported. Horn was cited for failure to obey a stop sign. Damage to both vehicles was estimated at $1,500 each.

On Monday, a car driven by Alexis Rae Turnbull, 513 N. Second St., was southbound in the 700 block of South Third Avenue attempting to slow down to turn into the Union Pacific Railway private drive and parking lot when slid off the roadway to the south and then off a retaining wall and coming to rest on the passenger side on the city of Marshalltown bike path. No injuries were reported. Turnbull was cited for driving under suspension. Damage to the Turnbull car was estimated at $2,000 while the retaining wall and bike path received an estimated $500 in damage.

On Monday, a vehicle driven by Ralph Hill Maxwell, 308 N. Second St., was eastbound on Anson Street traveling too fast for the conditions when it went out of control and hit a light pole belonging to Alliant Energy Corp., 810 S. 19th Ave., and a car driven by David Keith Adland, 519 Eastview Road, traveling behind the Maxwell vehicle was unable to stop and broadsided it. No injuries were reported. Maxwell was cited for failure to have a valid driver's license, no insurance and failure to maintain control. Damage to the Maxwell vehicle was estimated at $5,000 while the Adland car received an estimated $2,000 in damage and the light pole an estimated $100 in damage.

On Monday, a minivan driven by Haley Morgan Nissen, 1609 Elder Drive, was southbound in the 400 block of South Ninth Street approaching Lincoln Way when during braking it began to slide and in order to avoid hitting a parked car she pushed hard on the brakes, swerved to the right and struck a power pole owned by Alliant Energy. No injuries were reported. Damage to the Nissen minivan was estimated at $1,500 while the power pole received an estimated $500 in superficial damage.

On Monday, a car driven by Jennifer Lynn Smith, 1510 S. Center St., was northbound on South Center Street when she began to brake to turn into her driveway causing a vehicle driven by Emily Anne Ethington Peters, 1507 Brentwood Terrace, to suddenly brake which resulted in a car driven by Kathryn Claire Bartling, of Union, to quickly brake and due to the slush, it slid into the rear of the Ethington Peters vehicle. No injuries were reported. Damage to the Ethington Peters vehicle was estimated at $500 while the Bartling car received an estimated $3,000 in damage.

On Sunday, a minivan driven by Mauricio Mendoza, 704 Swayze St., was southbound on South Center Street when it collided with the rear of a car driven by Don Elvin Steen, 903 N. Fifth Ave. No injuries were reported. Mendoza was cited for failure to stop within an assured, clear distance. Damage to the Mendoza minivan was estimated at $2,500 while the Steen car received an estimated $5,000 in damage.

On Sunday, a pickup driven by Eleanor Vallie Murphy, of Melbourne, was northbound on a bridge overpass in the 800 block of South Sixth Street when an unknown vehicle passed her on the left side and crossed back in front of the pickup causing the driver to apply the brakes to avoid an accident and it went out of control on the slick snow and collided with the cement barrier on the east side of the bridge. No injuries were reported. Damage to the Murphy pickup was estimated at $1,500.

On Sunday, a car driven by Lara Jane Hill, 309 Emerald Drive, was driving too fast for the conditions on West Olive Street and Brookside Road causing it to slide off the road to the right and strike a fence owned by the American Legion Memorial, 1303 S. Sixth St. No injuries were reported. Damage to the Hill car was estimated at $3,500 while the fence received an estimated $500 in damage.

On Dec. 10, a car driven by Angela Marie Hofer, of Albion, was traveling southeast in the 400 block of Pleasantview Road and as it turned onto Bryngelson Drive it slid on the freshly fallen snow causing it to strike a legally parked vehicle. No injuries were reported. Damage to the legally parked vehicle was estimated at $2,500 while the Hofer car received an estimated $550 in damage.

On Dec. 2, a pickup driven by Adam Samuel Murphy, of Melbourne, was southbound on South Center Street in the inside lane when it tried to cut off a car driven by Jacob Schultz, 401 Sharon Ave., which was traveling south in the outside lane and then swerved quickly into the outside lane colliding with the rear of the Schultz car. No injuries were reported. Murphy was cited for careless driving. Damage to the Murphy pickup was estimated at $500 while the Schultz car received an estimated $1,500 in damage.

The Marshalltown Fire Department responded to a good intent call to 1706 S. Seventh Ave., a gasoline or other flammable liquid spill at 810 S. Third Ave. and 10 medical assists with the EMS crew to: 1301 Summit St., 3202 S. 12th St., 109 N. 22nd St., 3002 Nelson Road, 1314 Marshall Drive, 3202 S. 12th St., 1509 Marion St., 609 E. Main St., 2907 S. Sixth St. and 3208 S. Center St.

Saturday

The Marshalltown Fire Department responded to six medical assists with the EMS crew to: 113 W. State St., 302 S. Second Ave., 114 N. Center St., 402 N. 10th Ave., 114 N. Center St. and 306 Edgeland Drive.

Friday

The Marshalltown Fire Department responded to a detector activation-no fire-unintentional at 104 S. Eighth Ave., an outside rubbish fire at 408 N. Third St., a building fire at 808 Patterson Lane, an extrication, rescue at 2300 Lincoln Way, and eight medical assists with the EMS crew to: 320 Harrison Drive, 2907 S. Sixth St., 210 N. Eighth Ave., 125 W. Merle Hibbs Blvd., on South Center Street, 211 S. Third St., 608 N. Second Ave. and 601 E. Main St.
