Active military personnel will be offered a warm bed this holiday if being home is too crowded or not practical this season.

Baymont Inn and Suites in Marshalltown is offering free hotel rooms to active military personnel the nights of Dec. 24 and 25.

Hotel manager Ryan Rogers said it's important for them to take care of those in the military.

"The owner of the property is a war veteran and we were thinking this is a way we can give back," Rogers said. "We did this two years ago and had a nice turnout."

Those showing an active military ID will be granted the free room. Rogers said since the holiday is a slow time for the hotel there should be plenty of rooms available for active military members.

"It gives them a little bit of a vacation," Rogers said.

For more information, call the hotel at 641-752-4844. It is located at 115 Iowa Ave. W in Marshalltown.
