CRESTON - Jasmin Howe's 24 points led four Marshalltown Community College women's basketball players in double-figures Saturday as the Tigers beat Southwestern 84-54 in Iowa Community College Athletic Conference Division II play.
Ashley Salgado added 17 points, five steals, four assists and three rebounds in a win that pushes the Tigers into sole possession of fourth place in the conference standings at 5-3. Salgado and Howe combined to score 27 of the team's 41 first-half points.
Jamerka Martin chipped in 16 points and hit four 3-pointers, reaching double-figures for the seventh straight game and Ilsie Calles scored seven of her 10 points in the second half.
The Tigers knocked down 10 three-pointers on the night, the most for MCC since Jan. 11. The 84 points also are the most for Marshalltown since the Tigers scored a 87-65 victory over NCMC on Dec. 11.
The Tigers will host a doubleheader with the MCC men Wednesday night against Iowa Western Community College. The women will tip off at 5 p.m.
