Jo Ann Lankelma, age 84 of Plano, Texas, formerly of Iowa passed away on Saturday, January 25, 2014 at the Medical Center of McKinney in McKinney, Texas.
Jo Ann was born on June 7, 1929 in Des Moines, Iowa, the daughter of Charles D. Ramsay and Isabel (Ford) Ramsay. She and her brother, Richard, grew up in Des Moines, Iowa. In 1947, she graduated from Roosevelt High School.
She married William Lankelma on August 25, 1949 in Des Moines. Bill survives in Plano.
Surviving family members: Daughter, Nancy, of Plano, and her two daughters Courtney Anne of Plano and her family Scott Nickason and their two sons Eric Charles and Ethan Scott; Megan Elaine, of Austin Texas and her family Stephen Armstrong and their daughter Natalie Jo Ann; Son, James Charles-Jim and his two children Joseph William-Joey of Iowa City, Ia. and Kristen Nicole-Krissy of Cedar Falls, Ia.
She is preceded in death by: Charles and Isabel Ramsay and Richard Ramsay (brother)
Nana received her B.S. in Education from Drake University in Des Moines in 1968. She then began her life-long dream of teaching. She taught kindergarten for 16 years-touching many childrens' lives.
Nana's family was the center of her life. Her love and involvement with her family started with her children, down to her grandchildren, and finally to her three great-grandchildren. Everyone who knew Nana, loved her. She will be greatly missed by all.
A memorial service and celebration of life will be held on Saturday, February 1, 2014 at 11:00 AM at the Ted Dickey Funeral Home located at 2128 18th Street in Plano, TX 75074. A reception will be held following the service also at the funeral home.
