Accidents

On Sunday, a vehicle driven by Jose Antonio Uribe-Garcia, 2900 S. Center St. #121, was exiting a parking spot at Dollar General on South Center Street when it collided with a legally parked minivan in the lot. No injuries were reported. Uribe-Garcia was cited for no insurance-accident. Damage to both vehicles was estimated at $2,000 each.

On Sunday, a car driven by Rafael Delgado Cirino, of Ottuwma, was southbound on North 10th Avenue when it went through the stop sign at the intersection with East State Street and collided with a vehicle driven by Darla Sue Rowley, 502 N. 15th Ave., which was traveling west on State Street. Cirino and Rowley were both possibly injured, but neither was treated at the scene or transported. Cirino was cited for failure to obey a stop sign and failure to have a valid driver's license. Damage to the Cirino car was estimated at $2,500 while the Rowley vehicle received an estimated $1,000 in damage.

On Sunday, a vehicle driven by Tammy Jo Harris, 7 W. High St., was northbound in the 500 block of South Third Street at the intersection with West Madison Street went through the stop sign into the intersection and collided with a car driven by katherine Corrine Alman, of Baxter, which was traveling west on Madison Street. No injuries were reported. Harris was cited for no insurance and failure to stop at a stop sign. Damage to the Harris vehicle was estimated at $1,000 while the Alman car received an estimated $5,000 in damage.

On Saturday, a vehicle driven by Salvador Ramirez, of State Center, was westbound on Plaza Heights Road when it began to slide, exited the roadway and struck a mailbox owned by Jorge Morales, 202 Plaza Heights Road. No injuries were reported. Ramirez was cited for failure to maintain control and no insurance-accident. Damage to the Ramirez vehicle was estimated at $1,100 while the Morales mailbox received an estimated $400 in damage.

On Saturday, a vehicle driven by Maria De Jesus Ibarra, 209 N. 14th Ave., was westbound in the 900 block of East State Street when it went out of control on the 100 percent snow covered roadway, entered the oncoming lane, corrected and exited the roadway to the right where it struck a tree. Ibarra was transported to Marshalltown Medical & Surgical Center with possible injuries. Ibarra was cited for no insurance-accident. Damage to the Ibarra car was estimated at $9,000.

On Jan. 18, a minivan driven by an as yet unidentified driver was exiting a steep driveway covered in ice when it went into a slide down the driveway and struck a house at 206 N. 12th St., owned by John Warren Hoelscher, of Waukee. The driver and occupants left the scene of the accident. Damage to the minivan and the house were estimated at $1,500 each.

On Monday, a car driven by Miguel Diaz, 610 E. Anson St., was northbound on Seventh Avenue approaching South Street and attempting to slow for a stop when the hard packed snow on the street caused it to slide sideways while a car following driven by Trae William Petersen, 307 S. 10th St., encountered the same issue as it attempted to stop and the two cars collided. No injuries were reported. Petersen was cited for no insurance. Damage to both vehicles was estimated at $2,000 each.

Arrests

On Monday, Alejandro Guido Lopez, 608 E. Church St., was arrested for domestic assault-strangulation, four counts of child endangerment and obstruction of emergency communications.

On Monday, Tanner Levi Luethje, 511 N. Second Ave., was arrested for carrying weapons and possession of a Schedule I controlled substance-marijuana.

On Monday, Shelby Ann Mills, of Garwin, was arrested for possession of a Schedule I controlled substance-marijuana.

On Monday, Leonardo Del-Real Sanchez, 508 Sharon Ave., was arrested for possession of a Schedule I controlled substance-marijuana.

On Monday, Ernesto Garcia, 411 N. Center St., was arrested for driving while barred, possession of drug paraphernalia, possession of a Schedule I controlled substance-marijuana-enhanced, altering a drug label and unlawful possession of a prescription drug-cough syrup with codeine.

On Sunday, Scott Thomas Imsland, 404 N. Center St. Apt. #3, was arrested for trespass resulting in injury, criminal mischief-fifth degree and assault causing bodily injury.

Accidents

On Jan. 30, a pickup towing a 23 foot gooseneck trailer and driven by Danny Small, age 71, of Amarillo, Texas, was westbound on Highway 20 when the trailer began to slide sideways causing it to enter the median where the trailer rolled over breaking free of the pickup before coming to a stop. No injuries were reported. Damage to the Small pickup-trailer unit was estimated at $20,000.

On Jan. 27, a vehicle driven by Aaron Lucas, age 26, of Eldora, was southbound on T-19 north of Wellsburg when the driver fell asleep, crossed the centerline, traveled in the ditch and struck a power pole. Injuries were not reported. Damage to the Lucas vehicle was estimated at $2,500.

On Jan. 26, a car driven by Brian McDivitt, age 19, of Parkersburg, was eastbound on 160th Street and a vehicle driven by Mason Syhlman, age 21, of Dike, was westbound on 160th Street in near zero visibility conditions when the vehicles collided. No injuries were reported. Damage to both vehicles was estimated at $1,000 each.

On Jan. 23, a car driven by Kelly McDivitt, age 38, of Dike, was exiting a parking spot on North Street in Dike when it pulled into the path of a car driven by a 16-year-old female from Cedar Falls and a collision occurred. No injuries were reported. Damage to the McDivitt car was estimated at $1,500 while the juvenile's car received an estimated $200 in damage.

On Jan. 23, a vehicle driven by Steven Kaping, age 51, of New Hartford, was westbound on Highway 57 two miles east of T-55 when the driver fell asleep resulting in the vehicle dropping off onto the shoulder and awaking the driver who over-corrected and caused it to enter the south ditch where it struck a utility pole. No injuries were reported. Damage to the Kaping vehicle was estimated at $10,000.
