AMES - A torrid shooting performance from Brynn Williamson wasn't enough to break the Iowa State women's basketball team out of its recent spell.
TCU's Donielle Breaux hit the game-winning 3-pointer with 5.3 seconds left and the Horned Frogs prevailed 61-60 in Big 12 Conference play Wednesday to hand ISU its sixth loss in eight games after starting the season 14-0.
"We were supposed to switch every screen and we didn't switch, we had one person that didn't switch," ISU coach Bill Fennelly said of the go-ahead 3.
"We told them 'Switch every screen, make them turn the corner, make them bounce it and make them hit a tough two so at least it's a tie' We had someone make a mistake defensively and obviously it wasn't coached right, it wasn't taught right, but that's what happened."
Williamson drilled 6-of-13 from deep to finish with a game-high 18 points but Iowa State (16-6, 5-6) was outscored 38-18 in the paint and shot just 39 percent from the field.
Hallie Christofferson shot just 4-of-13 from the field for 11 points and five rebounds against Latricia Lovings - the Big 12's leading shot blocker.

"Their defense is good. We don't see a lot of zone and they spread you out," Fennelly said of TCU's defense.
"We didn't get to the free throw line enough. When we got the ball in the post we were very tentative because they block some shots."
The Horned Frogs held a six-point lead early in the second half but it was back-and-forth much of the way with 15 lead changes. Seanna Johnson twice put the Cyclones in front in the final 1:08 with a 3-pointer giving her team a 58-56 edge before hitting two free throws to set the score at 60-58 with 17 seconds to go. Taking the ball at midcourt with 15 seconds left, TCU moved the ball around the perimeter before Breaux found an opening at the top of the key and delivered.
ISU had one more chance but Nikki Moody's drive through the lane resulted in a jump ball going back to TCU with 0.3 seconds left.
Outside of Williamson and Johnson, who was 2-of-2 beyond the arc, the Cyclones made just 3-of-15 3-pointers and attempted just six free throws overall.
The Horned Frogs finished 13-of-15 at the line and made all 11 of their attempts in the second half.
Chelsea Prince and Zahna Medley led TCU (13-9, 4-6) with 17 and 16 points respectively, while Lovings added eight points, 14 boards and five blocks.
Johnson registered a double-double of 10 points and 13 rebounds, while Jadda Buckley scored 11.
