Marshalltown Police Department

Arrests

On Wednesday, Ricardo Velez Jr., 108 N. Third Ave. Apt. B, was arrested for possession of drug paraphernalia.

Accidents

On Thursday, a car driven by Maria Montalvo, 1509 Marion St. Apt. E1, was southbound on South Sixth Street approaching the intersection with Olive Street when it entered the intersection on a red light and collided with car driven by Stacy Lynn O'Hare, 2410 Lincoln Way, which was traveling west on Olive Street. No injuries were reported. Montalvo was cited for failure to obey a traffic control device, failure to have a valid driver's license and no insurance. Damage to the Montalvo car was estimated at $6,000 while the O'Hare car received an estimated $3,000 in damage.

On Thursday, a car driven by Jessica Michelle McGinnis, 1516 Clinton St., was exiting a parking spot at Hy-Vee when it collided with a legally parked car owned by Jeffrey Lynn Crookshank, 401 W. Main St. No injuries were reported. Damage to both vehicles was estimated at $1,000 each.

On Wednesday, a minivan driven by Kyaw Mya, 408 Melody Lane Apt. #1, was southbound in the 100 block of 11th Avenue approaching the intersection with State Street when it attempted to stop for the stop sign and began sliding into the intersection where it collided with a car driven by Juan Diego Napoles Medina, 204 N. 15th Ave., which was traveling west on State Street. No injuries were reported. Mya was cited for failure to maintain control. Damage to the Mya minivan was estimated at $3,000 while the Napoles Medina car received an estimated $400 in damage.

On Tuesday, Feb. 4, a car driven by Lal Uk Ceu, 212 N. Second St., was southbound on South Center Street approaching the intersection with Church Street when, due to the snow-packed roads, it went into a slide upon applying its brakes and collided with a minivan driven by Herbert Curtis Holder, 1108 W. Church St., which was traveling west on Church Street. No injuries were reported. Damage to both vehicles was estimated at $1,000 each.

Wednesday

The Marshalltown Fire Department responded to seven medical assists with the EMS crew to: 211 W. Church St., 2009 S. Center St., 521 N. First St., 1302 E. State St., 3202 S. 12th St., 1211 W. State St., and 1607 Norris Place.

Tuesday

The Marshalltown Fire Department responded to an excessive heat, scorch burns with no ignition at 207 W. Linn St., and a medical assist with the EMS crew to 311 S. Second St.

Feb. 3

The Marshalltown Fire Department responded to a dispatched/cancelled en route to 3202 S. 12th St., and five medical assists with the EMS crew to: 301 1/2 S. 15th Ave., 1308 E. Madison St., 1007 Fremont St., 101 W. Iowa Ave., and 1316 W. Main St.

Arrests

On Tuesday, Feb. 4, Jill Anne Welch, of Le Grand, was arrested for driving under suspension.

On Monday, Feb. 3, Alejandro Guido Lopez, 608 E. Church St., was arrested for aggravated domestic assault, four counts of child endangerment and obstruction of emergency communications.

On Sunday, Feb. 2, Jacob Lee Catherwood, of Garwin, was arrested for failure to appear.

Accidents

On Tuesday, Feb. 4, a car driven by Jesse Ryan James Holder, 209 E. Anson St., was entering Smith Avenue from a private driveway to the right when it went out of control on the snow covered roadway and entered the west ditch where it overturned and came to rest on it wheels. No injuries were reported. Damage to the Holder car was estimated at $4,000.

On Tuesday, Feb. 4, a minivan driven by Za Lian Thang, of Des Moines, was northbound on Binford Avenue when it went out of control on the icy roadway, did a slide into the median and came to rest in the turnaround. No injuries were reported. Damage to the Thang minivan was estimated at $1,500.
