Man trespasses, assaults ex-girlfriend

A local man who allegedly entered in his ex-girlfriend's house, slept in her bed, destroyed her furniture and then assaulted her has been arrested.

Scott T. Imsland, 37, was arrested at about 2 a.m., Feb. 3, on the 400 block of Center Street, when officers found him after the alleged incident.

Police released information Monday that the victim was sleeping in her bed when she woke up to Imsland laying next to her. Two weeks prior to the incident they had broken up after dating for six months.

The two began to argue and she told him to leave. He then got up, took out all of the drawers of her dresser and threw them across the room. He then hit her across the face three times, causing a bloody nose. The victim fought back causing Imsland a nose bleed.

Imsland is charged with trespass resulting in injury, fifth degree criminal mischief and assault causing bodily injury.

Marshalltown men found driving with drugs

Two men who were driving with marijuana, prescription cough syrup and drug paraphernalia have been arrested.

Ernesto Garcia, 25, and Leonardo Del-Real Sanchez, 19, were arrested Feb. 3, at the intersection of First and Lincoln streets after an officer recognized the driver, Garcia.

Police released the arrest information Monday.

After the officer had pulled over the car, he noticed the car smelled like marijuana. The officer asked Garcia how much marijuana was in the car, Garcia allegedly responded that they had smoked most of it.

While searching the car, officers found part of a joint, a methamphetamine pipe, less than a gram of marijuana and prescription cough syrup in the glovebox.

Del-Real Sanchez is charged with possession of marijuana. Garcia is charged with driving while barred, possession of marijuana, unlawful possession of a prescription drug, altering a drug label and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Man found with pills, methamphetamine in wallet

A man wanted on warrant was arrested after he was recognized by officers on the street and found with drugs.

Gordon Riendeau, 24, was arrested at about 3:15 p.m. Saturday, at the intersection of State Street and North Seventh Avenue while he was shoveling snow.

According to police, once an officer made contact with Riendeau, another officer noticed Riendeau took his wallet out of his pocket and stood on it. When officers searched the wallet, they found a baggy with less than a gram of meth and four Methadone pills.

Riendeau is charged with unlawful possession of prescription drugs, possession of meth and possession of Methadone.

Riendeau was on warrant for failing to appear in court for a third-degree theft charge from early December.

Shelby Ann Mills, of Garwin, made an initial appearance on a possession of marijuana charge. The public defender's office was appointed to handle her case. The preliminary hearing is set for 1 p.m. on Feb. 28. Bond will continue as posted.

Jason Darter, address unknown, made an initial appearance through counsel, Barry Kaplan, on a application for probation revocation. The probation revocation hearing is set for 11 a.m on March 11.

Margaret Kerns, 2204 Gary Court, made an initial appearance on a operating while intoxicated charge, a no driver's license charge and a failure to maintain control charge. The public defender's office was appointed to handle her case. The preliminary hearing is set for 1 p.m. on Feb. 28. Bond will continue as posted until the conclusion of this case. The court ordered that Kerns obtain a substance abuse evaluation and submit the results to the court within 60 days of today's date.

Greg Lafever, 204 W. Nevada St., made an initial appearance on a aggravated domestic assault charge. The public defender's office was appointed to handle his case. The preliminary hearing is set for 1 p.m. on Feb. 28. Lafever was released on his own recognizance. A no-contact order was issued for the protected party.

Marisa Easton, of St. Anthony, made an initial appearance on a possession of meth charge, a possession of marijuana charge, a possession of dilaudid charge and a possession of drug paraphernalia charge. The public defender's office was appointed to handle her case. The preliminary hearing is set for 1 p.m. on Feb. 28. Easton was released with supervision through the Department of Correctional Services and is to report to the adult probation office within 24 hours and sign a pre-trial release agreement. Another condition of release, is to obtain a substance abuse evaluation and submit the results to the court within 60 days of today's date.

Eric Ramone Lasley, 505 N. Fifth St., made an initial appearance on a violation of a no-contact order charge, a contempt of court for failure to appear on a child report recovery matter and a driving while barred charge. Chad Frese was appointed as counsel on the violation of a no-contact order charge and the contempt of court charge. The violation on the no-contact order contempt hearing is set for 3:30 p.m. on Feb. 24 in District Associate Court. The contempt of court contempt hearing is scheduled at 9 a.m. on Feb. 20 in District Court. The judge appointed the public defender's office as counsel on the driving while barred charge and the preliminary hearing is set for 1 p.m. on Feb. 20. Bond is set at a total of $3,000 cash or surety on the violation of no-contact order and driving while barred charge. The contempt of court charge has a bond set at $500 cash only. A new no-contact order was issued for the protected party.

Arturo Ramirez, of Liscomb, made an initial appearance on a theft-fourth degree charge. The public defender's office was appointed to handle his case. The preliminary hearing is set for 1 p.m. on Feb. 28. Ramirez was released on his own recognizance.

Gordon Michael Riendeau, 312 N. First St., made an initial appearance on a failure to appear for an arraignment hearing charge. The public defender's office was appointed to handle his case. The preliminary hearing is set for 1 p.m. on Feb. 19. Bond is set at $2,000 cash or surety.

Sandra Nohemi George Deniz, address unknown, made an initial appearance on two separate counts of a driving while license is denied, cancelled, revoked or suspended charge. She pleaded guilty and was fined $250 on each charge with a $87.50 surcharge and $60 in court costs for a total of $397.50 on each, due within 30 days of today's date.

Jeffrey Ray Flowers, address unknown, made an initial appearance on a driving under suspension charge. He pleaded not guilty and a pre-trial conference is set for 9 a.m. on March 11 in Magistrate Court.

On Saturday, John Michael Kunc, 711 N. Fourth St., reported the theft of an old coin. Estimated value of the coin was $1,000.

On Saturday, Nathan Phillips, 110 N. 11th St., reported the theft or loss of a Galaxy S3 smartphone while at either Hy-Vee or the YMCA. Estimated value of loss was $600.

On Friday, John Wesley Cooper, 205 W. Meadow Lane, reported the theft of a brown suede coat and grey ear muffs. Estimated value of loss was $385.

On Wednesday, Dennis Gray, 3 N. Ninth St. Apt. #2, reported the theft of three Jensen home theater speakers from his residence. Estimated value of loss was $600.

On Tuesday, Samuel Claire Keigley, 510 W. Main St. Apt. #3, reported the theft of a super slim PlayStation3 game system with two controllers and some miscellaneous items from his residence. Estimated value of loss was $259.99.

Arrests

On Saturday, Dalton James Brodigan, address unknown, was arrested for going armed with intent, willful injury, possession of drug paraphernalia and possession of a Schedule I controlled substance-marijuana.

On Saturday, Oscar Yepez, 511 Roberts Terrace, was arrested for driving while barred.

On Friday, Armando Jara-Cruz, 10 Lackey Terrace, was arrested for violation of a no-contact order.

On Thursday, Barbara Joe Edel, 2501 S. Second St. Apt. #4, was arrested for operating while intoxicated-second offense.

Accidents

On Wednesday, a snow plow belonging to the City of Marshalltown and driven by Daniel Lee Barnes, of Garwin, was westbound in the 400 block of Woodbury Street when it failed to raise its side wing high enough and struck a legally parked car owned by Rhonda Kay Gonzalez, 508 N. Second St. No injuries were reported. Damage to the Gonzalez car was estimated at $3,000.
