WAVERLY - The East Marshall and BCLUW boys' track and field programs both fared very well at the Wartburg College indoor meet on Tuesday.
Mustang senior Ben Terrones hit the tape in the 800-meter run, while two East Marshall relay teams also captured top-10 finishes.
For BCLUW, Cole Silver grabbed two top-five tallies and Derek Coulter, Will Garber and Luke Asche all scored top-10 finishes in individual events.
Terrones' winning time in the 800 was stopped at 2 minutes, 9.44 seconds, while Silver was third in the event with a time of 2:14.09. Silver also was fourth in the 3,200 as he hit the line in 10:28.96.
Terrones was not done though. He also ended up anchoring the 3,200-meter relay team to a fourth-place finish. The rest of his teammates included Caleb Benzing, Josh Benzing and Nick Meling and the foursome hit the line in 9:04.63.
Caleb Benzing had another top-10 tally. He teamed with Nick Mommer, Nick Long and Zach Rubenbauer to claim ninth in the distance medley relay. That foursome ended up finishing in 4:06.11.
The Comets as a team were impressive.
Aside from Silver's two individual top-10 performances, Coulter also was fourth in the 1,600 (4:57.70), Garber was sixth in the 55 hurdles (8.28) and Asche was 10th in the 55 hurdles (8.75).
Clay Silver also was 14th in the mile with a time of 5:21.70, while East Marshall's Seth Webb ended up a few spots behind in 16th with a time of 12:03.18.
Garber and Asche both helped the Comets to a fourth-place finish in the distance medley. Lane Caster led off the race with Garber in the second position, Taylor Sams in the third and Asche in the anchor spot as BCLUW hit the line in 4:06.11.
