The former chief pharmacist at Marshalltown's Iowa Veterans Home was paid $110,000 in a secret settlement with a confidentiality agreement.
Kelli Grabau worked at IVH pharmacy for more than 17 years.
According to documents released by Gov. Terry Branstad on Monday, Grabau's settlement was reached on Oct. 29, 2013 and was related to a non-contract grievance filed by Grabau on Oct. 1, 2012 and appealed to the Public Employment Relations Board on Dec. 3, 2012.
As part of the agreement, Grabau submitted a letter of resignation effective Sept. 26, 2012 and in return IVH removed any documentation of termination from Grabau's personnel file.
Of the $110,000 sum, $80,000 was was earmarked for "compensatory damages for emotional distress" and another $30,000 was for lump-sum wages. According to the agreement, she was paid $55,000 within 30 days of the agreement and the remaining $55,000 in January 2014.
Grabau declined to comment.
