GRINNELL - Paige Van Dyk won medalist honors for the second time in as many meets, leading the South Tama County girls' golf team to victory in Tuesday's triangular with Dallas Center-Grimes and host Grinnell.
Van Dyk shot a 1-under-par round of 36 on the front nine at Oakland Acres Golf Club, helping the Trojans tally a team total of 205. STC finished just ahead of Grinnell (207) and well in front of Dallas Center-Grimes (242).
Van Dyk birdied the first, third and sixth holes to counteract bogeys on Nos. 5 and 8.
Carrie Cibula shot a 48 for South Tama, while Laurel Scharnweber carded a 57 and Erin Clayton completed the team scoring with her 64.
Grinnell was led by a round of 45 from runner-up medalist Sarah Frischmeyer. Michaela Fay paced the Fillies with a round of 50.
Trojan boys sixth at CMB invite
BAXTER - West Marshall's 4x200-meter relay team captured the lone event win for the Trojan boys' track and field team, which finished sixth out of eight scoring teams on Tuesday at CMB's Raider Invitational.
The foursome of Blake Young, Jake Thompson, Duncan Ferch and Elijah Streeter combined for a winning time of 1 minute, 33.77 seconds to post the Trojans' top result.
The 4x100 quartet of Nick Juel, Streeter, Rafael Rodriguez and Ferch placed second in 46.01, and the 4x400 group of Juel, Thompson, Sam Sheer and Streeter also scored silver in 3:39.46.
Ferch clocked 11.3 to take second in the 100, while Juel scored third in the long jump with a leap of 19 feet, 1/2 inch. Ferch added a fourth-place finish in the 200 (23.18), and Nathan Bradley earned the same result in the 1,600 (4:48.37).
The Trojans return to action tonight at Hudson.
