The Marshalltown High School girls golf squad of Kristen Craft, Kara Mattox, Amanda Vogt and Whitney Schrader set a new school record with 326 points and captured the Tiger Invitational at Willow Creek Golf Course in West Des Moines.

Lori Vajgrt, daughter of Vern and Betty Vajgrt was named a United States National Award winner in history and government by the United States Achievement Academy.

West Marshall girls track team finished in first place with 101 points at the MHS Triangular with South Tama as the third team as Jani Henze set at new West Marshall record in the 100 meter hurdles and Judi Guckert set a new mark in the shot put with a toss of 31-feet, 4-inches.

SEMCO senior sprinter Chris Stewart had a big day as he led the Cougars to the Colfax-Mingo Invitational title and set a school record in the 100 meter dash and won the 200 meter dash, the 400 meter dash, the long jump and was part of the sprint medley relay winning team.
