LE GRAND - Due to a lack of volunteers, the Le Grand Pioneer Days town festival will not be held this year.
Pioneer Days typically include a parade, car show and several other events as a way to bring the eastern Marshall County community together on a Saturday in late August.
"The City of Le Grand is very disappointed that the Pioneer Days event for 2014 will be canceled due to a lack of volunteers to plan and implement the Pioneer Days events," said Le Grand Mayor Jay Wyatt. "The Pioneer Days Committee has struggled for several years to provide enough volunteers to make the events successful."

Visitors are pictured watching the 2013 Le Grand Pioneer Days parade. Organizers have decided to cancel Pioneer Days this year due to the lack of volunteers.
The festival has went away before but has been running annually since 1999. Organizers are hopeful they can gather enough volunteers to bring the festival back in 2015.
"I think it will (come back)," said Glendon McLean, Pioneer Days board president. "It will take something like this to go ahead and wake people up to get people to participate."
