Former Marshalltown Community College men's basketball standout Will Clyburn will return to the Student Activity Center to host the first-ever Will Clyburn Basketball Camp June 9-12.
The camp includes two sessions, with the first one for boys and girls in grades 7-9 running from 8 a.m. to noon each day. The second session will be held from 1-5 p.m. for boys and girls in grades 3-6.
Campers will receive individual skill assessments along with group and team instruction from Clyburn and the MCC coaching staff. Campers will receive a dri-fit T-shirt, custom-made MCC logo socks, and a water bottle to receive free Gatorade throughout the camp.
The cost of the camp is $110 and is open to the first 50 registrants. Financial scholarship assistance is available on a first-come basis.
Clyburn excelled in his two seasons at MCC where he was a first-team all-ICCAC and first-team all-Region XI selection as a sophomore after earning all-ICCAC honorable mention in his freshman campaign. Following his stint as a Tiger, Clyburn earned second-team all-Mountain West honors in his one year at the University of Utah. The Detroit native completed his collegiate career with Iowa State where he was named the Big 12 Newcomer of the Year after leading the Cyclones in scoring at 14.9 points per game.
Clyburn is currently playing professionally for Ratiopharm Ulm of the Bundesliga Basketball League in Germany. He participated in this year's BBL Beko Basketball Dunk Contest.
"The expertise and knowledge of the MCC basketball coaching staff will challenge and excite you as you learn from them, just as I did," Clyburn said. "The MCC gym floor, home to the Tigers, will provide a perfect place to develop your skills, learn proper basketball fundamentals, and team play."
