Former Bobcat Bennett Mann spent the last two seasons helping the hometown Marshalltown Community College baseball team reach the Region XI championship game and now plans on continuing that success at NCAA Division III Buena Vista.
Mann committed to play for the Beavers on Thursday, according to a press release sent out by the school.
The Tigers' primary left fielder the past two seasons, Mann led the Iowa Community College Athletic Conference with a career-high 14 home runs and also had 43 hits and 27 extra-base hits in all. Those numbers doubled his production from his freshmen season and helped MCC return to the Region XI title game, where they were defeated by eventual national champion Iowa Western.

Mann will get the chance to play for another winner when he heads to Storm Lake to play for the Beavers.
Buena Vista is coming off a historic season that saw the school claim its second-ever Iowa Intercollegiate Athletic Conference title after posting a school-record 37 wins and a league-best 22-6 conference mark. The Beavers also reached the NCAA Division III regional tournament.
Mann, a left-hander who was named to the all-Region XI honorable mention squad, said he was looking forward to getting started with a new program.
"Coach Steve Eddie is a great coach," said Mann, who also finished with 36 RBIs this past season. "When I tell people I'm going to Buena Vista, all they can say is how great of a coach he is and that made my decision that much easier. On top of that, the campus is a good fit and the facilities are excellent. I can't wait to start."
And the fact that Buena Vista has had recent success on the diamond made the decision even easier.
"They had a great season last year and won their conference," said Mann, who will major in Business with a concentration in Entrepreneurship. "I want to be a part of that."
Buena Vista has won 118 games over its last four seasons to go along with a .645 winning percentage.
