Gimbel, Oden picked for CIML all-star game

Blake Gimbel led the Marshalltown boys’ basketball team in scoring, steals and blocks and was second in assists and rebounding this past season.

Eisha Oden was the best player on the Marshalltown girls’ basketball team after averaging a double-double.

Both have been selected to play in the Central Iowa Metropolitan League All-Star games to be played at West Des Moines Valley High School on Saturday, March 30.

Gimbel scored 14.6 points per game to lead the Bobcats, while also grabbed nearly six rebounds per tilt. Oden scored 10 points and grabbed 10 rebounds per contest for the Bobcat girls, who played most of the season without the services of starting point guard Taylor Wagner.

The boys’ all-star game also will feature Mr. Iowa Basketball Peter Jok of West Des Moines Valley, Austin Shappell and Danny Agic of Urbandale, Chris Bennett and Tate Larsen of Des Moines Roosevelt, Peter Odia and Jon Wisnieski of Dowling Catholic, Gatlat Toang of Des Moines Hoover and Clint Boffeli of West Des Moines Valley.

The girls’ rosters include Division 1 recruits Shaya Kellogg (Oklahoma) of Ames, Caitlin Ingle (Drake) of state champion Southeast Polk and Jadda Buckley (Iowa State) of Mason City as well as Britney Boland of Waukee, Cortni Rush (NIACC) of Mason City and Brittany Hedrick of Ankeny.
