STC harriers sweep Montezuma meet

MONTEZUMA – The South Tama County cross country teams swept the Montezuma Invitational on Thursday.

The South Tama boys scored 51 points to hold off BGM with 54 as seven teams scored in the meet. Blake Keller won the meet with a time of 17:38, and Hunter Filloon took sixth in 18:45. Robert Tyynismaa (10th, 19:17) and Trevor Yuska (11th, 19:19) bridged the gap as Nathan Weiss rounded out the STC scoring in 27th (21:16).

The STC girls scored 52 points to distance themselves from runner-up Pella Christian (85). There were six scoring teams. Allison Yuska finished second in 17 minutes, 44 seconds to lead the Trojans, while Jensen Vodochodsky was sixth in 18:10. Belle Tyynismaa was 12th (18:47), Lauren Yuska came in 15th (19:14) and Mallory Thede was 17th (19:25).
