Bobcat JV boys fall to Grinnell
The Marshalltown junior varsity boys’ basketball team could not maintain its halftime lead on Thursday night, falling to Grinnell 61-45 at Lenihan Intermediate School.
The Bobcats (0-2) led by three points at the half but struggled to keep the taller Tigers off the boards after the break.
Marshalltown was led by Drake Slifer’s 12 points. Brandin Chaloupek chipped in 10 points. Kyler Ladehoff and Jeffrey Miron both contributed seven points, while Sam Weatherman added six points and John Boland had three.
The Bobcats are back in action Monday at Ames.
Beaty propels MHS frosh past Tigers
The Marshalltown freshman boys basketball ‘B’ team used a 19-point outburst from Conner Beaty to overwhelm Grinnell 52-35 Thursday at Lenihan Intermediate School.
Beaty drilled five 3-pointers to pace the Bobcats, while Ryan Collins scored 10 points. Tyrell Davis chipped in six points, Lucas Duff had five and Reid Mennig added four.
The Bobcats ‘A’ and ‘B’ squads both travel to Ankeny Centennial tonight.
Valley downs Marshalltown JV girls
Kelcie Hale’s game-high 19 points helped the West Des Moines Valley junior varsity girls’ basketball team defeat Marshalltown on Tuesday, 50-19.
Mackenzie Ward pitched in with 10 points for the Tigers, who led 14-2 after the first quarter and 22-13 at the half.
Grace Metzger paced Marshalltown with seven points. Naomi Boland and Nya Gatwech both tallied five points, and Mallory Henze rounded out the Bobcat scoring with two points.
