Southeast Polk slips past MHS sophs

A Southeast Polk buzzer-beater spelled defeat for the Marshalltown sophomore boys basketball team on Tuesday night, 59-58, at Marshalltown Community College.

Spencer Dempewolf led MHS with 18 points, while TJ Snyder added 14 points and Jacob Streeter 12.

The Bobcats are back in action Friday at home against Mason City.

Ames pulls away from Bobcat JV girls

The Marshalltown junior varsity girls basketball team suffered defeat at the hands of Ames on Friday night, falling 41-22.

Nya Gatwech led the Bobcats with six points, six rebounds and five blocked shots. Ciara Feldman finished with five points and five rebounds, while Victoria Johnson, Naomi Boland and Grace Metzger had two points apiece. Boland added three rebounds and three steals in the loss.
