South Tama stays perfect; AGWSR scores first victory
TAMA – Jerry Lowe ran for 188 yards on 23 carries, and accounted for all three of South Tama County’s touchdowns as the Class 2A No. 3 Trojans (4-0, 2-0) defeated Union Community 19-0 Friday night.
The Trojans held the Knights (1-3, 1-1) to 128 total yards of offense, and forced John Boisen to throw two interceptions, both by Cody Kellogg. STC’s defense has allowed only eight points this season.
The Trojans travel to South Hardin (1-3, 0-1) this coming Friday.
AGWSR 12, Wapsie Valley 6
FAIRBANKS – The AGWSR football team picked up its first win of the season Friday night, defeating Wapsie Valley (2-2, 1-1) 12-6 in Class A District 4 play.
Levi Stockdale ran for 182 yards on 40 carries and a touchdown. Josh Balvanz ran the ball 14 times for 77 yards, including a 34-yard touchdown run.
AGWSR (1-3, 1-1) hosts BCLUW (2-2, 1-1) this coming Friday. The Cougars defeated the Comets 51-6 last season.
Roland-Story 19, South Hardin 0
STORY CITY – Roland-Story shut out South Hardin 19-0 in Class 2A District 6 play Friday night. The win was the first for the Norsemen (1-2, 1-1) since Oct. 10, 2015, when they edged East Marshall 21-14.
Ty Cook was 8-of-18 passing for the Tigers (1-3, 0-1) with 87 yards and four interceptions. Hunter Nessa had 45 yards receiving on five catches, and Jonathan Weber added 37 yards receiving on two catches.
The Tigers host Class 2A No. 3 South Tama County (4-0, 2-0) this coming Friday.
