Campbell hangs on to 24-14 win over Drake

BUIES CREEK, N.C. – Aaron Blockmon caught a 53-yard touchdown pass from Kameron Bryant with less than three minutes left, sending Campbell to its first ever win over Drake on Saturday night, 24-14.

Campbell had lost each of its past five meetings.

Trailing 17-14 with less than four minutes left, Drake (2-3, 1-1 Pioneer Football League) decided to punt rather than go for it on fourth-and-10 at its own 14-yard line. Campbell took advantage, with Bryant rolling out right and hitting a wide-open Blockmon deep on the second play of the drive. Blockmon finished with 99 yards, and Andre Davis added a 14-yard receiving score on a trick play from wide out Ben Bolling.

The Bulldogs turned it over on downs on the ensuing drive, largely thanks to three sacks of Drake quarterback Andy Rice. The Camels (3-2, 1-1) totaled a school-record nine sacks, with three apiece from Ugonna Awuruonye and Syd Holt.
