STC harriers 1st, 2nd at Montezuma
MONTEZUMA – South Tama’s Blake Keller finished first individually and Hunter Filloon was third to lead the Trojans boys’ cross country team to a second-place finish at Montezuma on Thursday.
Keller finished in 18 minutes, 14 seconds, and Filloon completed the course in 19:01, as the Trojans scored 103 points as a team. Chase Brannen posted a top-20 finish for the Trojans, crossing the finish line 20th in 20:36. Daniel Mendoza (46th, 23:01), Nick Jordan (49th, 23:07), Jake Wilkerson (60th, 24:06) and Jeremy Rosario (76th, 25:40) rounded out the field for the boy’s team.
On the girls’ side, Belle Tyynismaa took second in 22:54, Mahala Doyle took sixth in 24:54 and Marisol Mora finished ninth in 25:22 to help the Trojans claim the team title with 49 points in the eight-team field.
Kelsie York Morris helped the Trojans with a 15th-place finish in 25:46. Shae Slaven was the fifth Trojan to finish in the top 20, coming in 17th in 25:54. Allison Yuska also had a top-20 placing, finishing in 26:23 to take 19th. Lauren Yuska (29th, 27:17), Mallory Thede (31st 28:10), Steph Slaven (43rd, 30:48) and Socorro Mendoza (50th, 34:21) rounded out the Trojan contingent.
South Tama will run next Thursday in the WaMaC meet in Independence.
