Tigers dealt another setback at Moberly
MOBERLY, Mo. – The Marshalltown Community College women’s basketball team suffered its second straight loss at the Moberly Area Community College Tournament, falling 51-36 to the host Greyhounds on Saturday evening.
Sophomore JeAnn Hiraldo led the Tigers (1-2) with 16 points and 11 rebounds.
MCC stayed in contention early as Moberly Area (2-1) took a 17-12 lead after the first quarter. The two teams went point-for-point in the second quarter as each side scored 13 apiece, and the Greyhounds led 30-25 at halftime.
It was the third quarter that did the Tigers in as Moberly Area outscored MCC 11-2 in the frame to pull away.
Freshman Shyannon Wolf contributed 10 points on the day after knocking down two 3-pointers for the Tigers. Barbara Araoz added seven points and five rebounds.
Hiraldo has scored in double figures in all three games this season and is averaging 16.7 points and 12.7 rebounds per contest.
The Tigers host the Meskwaki Bingo Casino Hotel Classic at the Student Activity Center Nov. 12-14. MCC will host the Mount Mercy junior varsity at 5 p.m. on Thursday and Little Priest Tribal College at 3 p.m. next Saturday.
