UNI QB earns weekly conference honor
ST. LOUIS, Mo. – Junior quarterback Aaron Bailey earned Missouri Valley Football Conference Newcomer of the Week, it was announced today by the league office.
This is Bailey’s second Newcomer of the Week nod from the Valley, also earning it for his performance against Eastern Washington in September.
Bailey had his hand in five of UNI’s eight touchdowns in the Panthers’ 59-13 rout against No. 23 Indiana State. He rushed for four touchdowns, tying the school record in total touchdowns in a game and rushing scores in a game.
He is the first Panther to rush for four touchdowns since 2010 when Tirrell Rennie accomplished the feat against Illinois State. The Bolingbrook, Ill. native racked up 54 yards on the ground against the Sycamores, adding 114 passing yards that included a touchdown pass to Charles Brown in the fourth quarter.
Bailey and the Panthers will return to action Saturday, Nov. 14 when they travel to Springfield, Mo. to take on Missouri State. The game is set to kick off at 2 p.m.
