Bobcat Fundraiser set for June 14
The 14th annual MHS Bobcat Athletics Fundraiser golf tournament has been scheduled for June 14 at the American Legion Golf Course.
The Marshalltown High School event has an 8 a.m. and a 12:30 p.m. session. Entry fees are $50 per person for one session or $75 for both sessions, with cost going toward green fees, cart, lunch and prizes. Various levels of hole sponsorship are also available.

Spartan girls claim A-P Invite crown
PARKERSBURG – The Grundy Center/Gladbrook-Reinbeck girls’ golf team was crowned champions of the Aplington-Parkersburg Invite here Tuesday night, winning the seven-team event by a whopping 27 strokes.
The Spartans shot a 193 behind the top two rounds of the tournament led by Kate Ross, who earned medalist with her 5-over-par 41. Jill Itzen shot a 45 and shared the second-best scoring honors with Clarksville’s Bridget Ross.
Abby Hockemeyer (53) and Sasha Nagle (54) rounded out the Spartans’ team scoring.
BCLUW was second with a 220, led by Mikaela Simpson’s round of 50. Lauren Anderson (55), Madison Trinkle (56) and Bri Tecklenburg (59) closed out the Comet scoring.
West Marshall also shot a 220 team total, but BCLUW took the spot on the strength of a fifth-score tiebreaker. The Trojans were led by Madi Stalzer’s 46, which was the fourth-best score of the day.
North Tama was sixth with a 241 total, paced by Kodi Hillman’s 49 and Claire Schafer’s 50.
