MCC baseball takes two more from Indian Hills
CENTERVILLE – The Marshalltown Community College baseball team got the job done, minimally, taking two wins away from Indian Hills Community College, both 1-0 defeats on Sunday.
Freshman Carlos Gonzalez (6-2) threw six scoreless innings in game one and JD Barr earned the win after a perfect relieving session. Diogen Ceballos, the freshman from the Dominican Republic, earned a save in each game.
With a lack of offense from both sides, the Tigers (24-12, 7-5) made the most of theirs when they could. In the ninth inning, Joel Rosauer singled to the outfield and scored Kaleb Hanks, who reached first on a bunt. Ceballos shut down the bottom of the ninth to help the Tigers escape with the first win.
Another pitching duel was at hand with another 1-0 Tiger win in the nightcap. Luis Duran hit his third-career home run to give the Tigers the upper hand.
Gonzalez put three baserunners on in the first inning of the final game, but got out of the jam and keyed in the rest of the session.
It’s the first three-win regular season against the Falcons (15-22, 5-7) since 2011. There are still four games to play in the 2016 season.
