Britten leads Royals at Roland-Story
STORY CITY – The Colo-NESCO girls’ cross country team came away with fourth place in the 14-team Roland-Story Norseman Invite on Thursday.
Royals junior Alexis Britten led her squad with a 10th-place finish, clocking in at 22 minutes, 37.08 seconds. Faith Vincent and Lauryn Hill crossed consecutively in 35th and 36th place, respectively, in 24:30.52 and 24:30.70. Angela Brinkman was 43rd in 24:56.35, and Grace Stalzer scored 52nd in 25:27.74 to round out Colo-NESCO’s team total of 158.
Class 3A No. 9 Dallas Center-Grimes was a runaway winner of the meet with 17 points, securing the top four individual spots. Nevada was second with 91 points, followed by West Central Valley (156), Colo-NESCO and Roland-Story (161).
On the boys’ side, the shorthanded Royals finished 13th with a 419 total. Cole Dulaney led Colo-NESCO with a 69th-place result in a time of 20:16.06.
Dons down Colo-NESCO volleyball
COLO – The Don Bosco volleyball team handed Colo-NESCO its first Iowa Star Conference South Division loss, sweeping the host Royals 25-10, 25-11, 25-8, on Thursday night.
Maddie Huff had 11 kills and served 18-for-19 with three aces to lead Don Bosco (7-5, 3-0). Kindra Walter added seven kills and Maddey Siems finished with 22 assists.
Kassie Robinson had three kills and was 6-for-6 serving with an ace to lead Colo-NESCO (4-8, 2-1). Chelsea Henze had two kills and also served 6-for-6. Emma Sarver made seven digs.
The Royals visit GMG in conference play Tuesday.
