MCC volleyball stifled by Northeast in home finale
The Marshalltown Community College volleyball team closed out its home schedule on Thursday night, falling to Northeast Community College, 25-18, 25-17, 22-25, 25-17.
Freshman Sara Bisbe, this week’s Iowa Community College Athletic Conference Player of the Week, led the Tigers with 20 kills on 58 attempts for a .259 hitting percentage. The freshman also added a team-high 23 digs and three service aces.
DaNesha Cowley added seven kills and four block assists for MCC (12-19). Nina Bales contributed 35 assists while Jordan Carter totaled five kills and 13 digs. Nicole Montgomery had six kills and two solo blocks, while Paola Toledo posted four kills and 17 digs in the loss to the Hawks (25-11).
MCC wraps up the regular season on the road at Iowa Lakes at 5 p.m. Saturday in Estherville.
The NJCAA District J Tournament opens on Nov. 4 at Iowa Western CC in Council Bluffs, where the third-seeded Tigers will take on second-seeded and sixth-ranked Indian Hills at 3 p.m.
