FORT DODGE — A balanced attack from Fort Dodge and another scoreless quarter prevented the Marshalltown girls’ basketball team from picking up its first win of the season, as the Dodgers downed the Bobcats 60-9 in Friday’s CIML Iowa Conference tilt.

Marshalltown (0-11, 0-4) fell behind 21-3 after the first quarter and then went scoreless in the second period as the host Dodgers (6-3, 3-1) ran out to a 36-3 halftime advantage.

The Bobcats managed just two points in the third quarter and four more in the fourth in remaining winless so far this winter.

“Something we’ve been struggling a lot with recently is just getting through our offense,” said MHS senior Aspen Chadderdon. “We’ve been working super-hard on that in practice, and our shot selection is a big deal. We saw a lot of improvements tonight.”

MHS managed to shoot 4-for-35 from the field in the loss, going 0-for-2 from 3-point range while the Dodgers made four 3-pointers and shot 23-for-46 overall from the floor.

Maggie Harvey and Beth Murman led Fort Dodge with eight points apiece. Kacee Gollob added seven points and Shareece Smith finished with six points.

Aspen Chadderdon’s three points led the Bobcats. Malory Henze and Alyvia Chadderdon each added a bucket for MHS, which hosts Des Moines East on Tuesday and Dowling Catholic next Friday night at the Roundhouse.
