Panthers remain winless in league play

PEORIA, Ill. — The losing streak continued with a road loss for Northern Iowa on Wednesday, falling to Bradley 72-61.

Spencer Haldeman had 16 points while Klint Carlson had 15 as the Panthers (5-11, 0-5 MVC) played without leading scorer Jeremy Morgan, who sat out with an ankle sprain.

After giving up the first seven points to Bradley (8-10, 3-2 MVC), the Panthers battled back to tied things up at 20-20 just past the halfway point in the first half.

But the Braves would go on to outscore Northern Iowa 22-7 in the final seven and a half minutes to take a 42-27 halftime lead.

The Panthers struggled shooting, making just 44 percent of their shots. Bradley came back to fire off 55.1 percent of their shots, while going 8-for-17 from the arc.

The one area looking up for the Panthers was their production off of opponent turnovers. The Panthers grabbed 19 points off of 17 Bradley give aways. Northern Iowa was more protective of the ball, turning the ball over just nine times.

It was the eighth different lineup the Panthers have used this season. With Morgan on the bench, Carlson, Juwan McCloud, Jordan Ashton, Bennett Koch and Haldeman all started Wednesday night.

The losing streak is now at seven consecutive for the Panthers. They’ll try to turn the tides on Sunday with an in-state rivalry match with Drake, tipping off at 3 p.m. at the McLeod Center.
