Guilford gets two back from Tigers
JAMESTOWN, N.C. — The Marshalltown Community College baseball team was handed a pair of losses in North Carolina on Sunday, dropping the twinbill to Guilford Technical Community College 10-4 and 11-10.
The two losses forces a split on the weekend, after the Tigers won both games Saturday.
Enmanual Lopez led the Tigers with four hits Sunday, all extra-base knocks on three doubles and a home run. The sophomore slugger punched in two runs while scoring four times himself.
Luis Duran snagged five hits and four RBIs Sunday afternoon as well.
Game one was started by Tryston Durham, who earned the loss after four hits, three earned runs and two strikeouts. JJ Stephens pitched three relief innings, giving up a hit, two earned runs and punching out one.
Holt Hunziker saw action for just two-thirds of an inning, before Jose Mieses pitched four strikeouts in 1.1 innings, while giving up four hits and three earned runs in the 10-4 loss.
In game two, Noel Diaz started on the mound, going for 4.1 innings and gave up seven hits, nine runs (eight earned) on four home runs, while striking out four. Lopez took the loss after coming in in the fourth, with the Tigers up 9-5. Lopez gave up two hits, two earned runs while striking out four.
MCC is off until March 11 when they head to Crowder College in Neosho, Mo., for a four-game series.
