JAMESTOWN, N.C. — The Marshalltown Community College baseball team collected a combined 22 run in its doubleheader, and the Tigers needed just about all of them to pick up a pair of wins Saturday.

A seven-run third inning propelled MCC to a 13-12 win against Guilford Technical Community College in the opener. The Tigers then topped GTCC 9-6 in the nightcap. The second game was called after five innings due to darkness.

MCC (7-4) scored three runs in the first two innings of game one to take a 10-0 lead after three. GTCC came back with eight runs in the bottom of the third. Luis Duran and Tony Salato each went 3-for-5 with two runs batted in, one of Duran’s hits going for a double. Enmanuel Lopez homered in the opener. Greg Glass picked up his first win of the year on the mound, tossing 2 2/3 innings of relief, giving up one run on a home run, striking out three.

Max McCay went 3-for-3 with four RBIs in the second game, including a 2-run home run. Tony Salato also went yard in the shortened game. Lopez collected a pair of double, and McCay collected a two-bagger. Juan Carlos Gonzalez hurled all five innings for his first victory of the season. The sophomore gave up six runs (four earned) on five hits, walked three and struck out six.
