CLERMONT, Fla. — After six-straight wins, the Marshalltown Community College softball team found itself in a pinch Wednesday, dropping a pair of games to St. Ambrose JV and Madison Area Technical College.

The Wolfpack (11-4) hung 10 runs on the Tigers (6-4) in the final four innings, three coming in the seventh, to take an 11-3 win in game one of a twinbill Wednesday. Paige Taylor took the loss (3-3) after going all seven innings, giving up 12 hits, 11 runs (five earned) while striking out five.

Dion Shirley, Shaena Robinson, Annalee Myers, Josie Carpenter and Olivia Hubert all collected two hits in the first game against Madison College, but fell short getting them in to score.

The second game against St. Ambrose JV took just five innings, as the Fighting Bees (1-0) scored five runs in the third and five in the fourth to take a 10-1 win against the Tigers.

Jordan Carter took the loss (2-1) going three innings, giving up seven hits and five runs, while striking out just one.

Taylor Tague didn’t make it through the fourth, giving up three hits and five runs, before Taylor came back for an inning of relief, walking just one in her second appearance.

Robinson was 2-for-2 at the plate against St. Ambrose JV, driving in the only run of the game. She was 4-for-6 on the afternoon and is batting a team-best .629 this season.
