Urbandale holds off MHS boys

URBANDALE — The Bobcats’ comeback came up short, as the Marshalltown boys’ soccer team found two goals in the final five mintues before falling 3-2 to Urbandale on Tuesday night.

An injury to Alec Reynolds (knee) in the first half forced the Bobcats’ starting goalkeeper to leave the game. He was replaced by Ricky Ibarra. The J-Hawks finished with seven shots but Ibarra was able to save five of them.

Raul Perez scored on a header, served up from freshman Jose Tores in the final five minutes. Two minutes later, Chum Ling found the back of the net as Urbandale’s goalie deflected two close-range shots.

Marshalltown finished with eight shots, five of them on goal.

The Bobcats head to the Nevada Tournament on Saturday.
