Earley leads Redhawks past Clarksville

TRAER — Will Earley pitched a three-hitter and the North Tama baseball team scored three runs in the third inning, all it would need to defeat Clarksville 3-1 in an Iowa Star Conference clash here Friday night.

Earley struck out 10 and walked one, allowing only a sixth-inning tally for Clarksville (9-7, 9-5).

The Redhawks got all three of their hits in one inning, but it was enough to score three times. Cael Even singled and scored, Tyler Morrison walked and scored, and Cael Kopriva and Cameron Hoeg had run-scoring singles for North Tama (18-4, 10-2), which won its 11th straight.

Royals start fast, defeat Janesville

ZEARING — The Colo-NESCO baseball team won for the third time in its last four games, beating Janesville 4-1 in Friday’s Iowa Star Conference showdown.

Colo-NESCO freshman Brighton Clatt scattered six hits and three walks over seven innings for the win, allowing one unearned run while striking out two. Clatt also hit a two-run single during the Royals’ four-run first inning.

Matthew Hill finished 3-for-4 at the plate with an RBI and a run scored. Garret Tiarks, Kelly Gray and Sean Cutler each added a single for Colo-NESCO (6-15, 4-10).
