Ex-Bobcat AD to be honored

Tim Bell

Former Marshalltown High School athletic director and cross country coach Tim Bell will be honored during a dedication ceremony prior to the 44th annual Bobcat Cross Country Invitational on Thursday at Marshalltown Community College.

A shelter house being built at the cross country course will commemorate the 35 years Bell worked for MHS before retiring in 2013. There will be a plaque signifying the structure’s dedication to Bell, who spent 32 years as a cross country coach.

“I had very special student athletes throughout the years,” Bell said. “My family is first and foremost, yet I still call all of my runners my boys.”

Bell coached 541 different cross country student-athletes, and also coached girls’ track, freshman boys’ basketball and junior high track.

The public is invited to attend the ceremony, which will commence at 3:30 p.m.
