MHS swimming wins double dual at North

DES MOINES — Marshalltown girls swim recorded its second meet victory of the year on Tuesday night when the Bobcats beat both Oskaloosa and Des Moines North in a double dual.

MHS beat Oskaloosa 207-59 and Des Moines North 223-28 in its first road meet of the year.

The Bobcats took first in nine of the 11 events on the evening, with Shakira Herrera winning the 200-yard freestyle and 500-yard freestyle, Zoe Beals winning the 50-yard freestyle and 100-yard backstroke, Taylor Hrabak winning the 100-yard freestyle and Klaudia Hernandez winning the 100-yard breaststroke individually.

MHS won all the relays as well, with the Jacqueline Wahl, CeCe Waltermire, Cori Jorgenson and Hernandez combining to win the 200-yard medley relay. Hrabak, Herrera, Jorgenson and Beals combined to win the 200-yard and 400-yard freestyle relays.

In the two events the Bobcats didn’t take first, Emily Manis finished second in the 200-yard individual medley and Hernandez took second in the 100-yard butterfly.
