Trojan girls win home cross country meet

STATE CENTER — West Marshall had both the highest-finishing girls team at its home cross country meet at Lincoln Valley Golf Course on Tuesday night and the highest-finishing individual finisher on the day.

Avril Sinning took top honors for the Trojans with a time of 21 minutes, 36 seconds, while teammate Grace Girard finished in third and Reyna Jorgenson took fifth. Mariah Bockes and Hannah Jovanovich both also finished in the top-15 for West Marshall, finishing in 12th and 15th respectively.

Colo-NESCO finished fifth as a team on the girls side, with Alexis Britten coming in seventh for the Royals with a 23:19. Faith Vincent also had a top-15 finish, coming in 14th.

Though they didn’t have a team score, BCLUW did have a few girl runners in the mix with Samantha Schleisman coming in 26th as the top Comet.

On the boys end, West Marshall finished in second place as a team with Ron Maxey finishing in 12th and Mark Van Metre taking 15th to pace the Trojans.

BCLUW finished in third, while Caleb Silver was the top-area finisher by taking second with a time of 17:38. Neifer Ralston also finished in the top-10, taking seventh for the Comets.

Cole Dulaney was the high-finisher for Colo-NESCO with his 17th placing, and the Royals finished in seventh as a team.
