UNI’s Farley chosen for MVFC defensive honor

CEDAR FALLS — Following a 45-38 overtime victory over Cal Poly on Saturday night, Northern Iowa linebacker Jared Farley was named the Missouri Valley Football Converence Co-Defensive Player of the Week.

Farley finished the game with 11 total tackles against the Mustangs, four solo tackles and seven assists. He also returned a fumble 48 yards for a score, giving the Panthers a 14-7 lead in the second quarter.

This was the second time Farley has earned that honor as a Panther after earning that distinction last season following UNI’s 25-20 win over Iowa State. He is also the first player since Karter Schult to win the weekly award multiple times.
