ANKENY — Marshalltown local Rob Christensen was named the Super Senior Player of the Year award by the Iowa Golf Association at the conclusion of the last season.

Christensen has been a fixture on the Iowa Senior Tour since 2002 and has played in many golf tournaments around the state. In order to earn the Player of the Year nod, Christensen had to win the final event of the season, the Iowa Senior Amateur at the Burlington Golf Club. He was able to accomplish that feat, beating out Dave Sergeant of Fort Dodge and David Studer of West Des Moines for the award.

Christensen also won the Super Senior division of the Carroll Amateur and Briarwood Amateur this season, and he finished second at the Iowa Masters and Fort Dodge Amateur.

The Super Senior Player of the Year Award is a new honor started by the IGA this year. Super Seniors are players that are 65 and older.
