Divers pace Bobcat girls at CIML Iowa invitational

FORT DODGE — The diving tandem of Alli and Sami Trowbridge led the way as the Marshalltown girls’ swimming and diving squad competed in the CIML Iowa Conference meet that wrapped up Thursday at Fort Dodge Senior High.

Alli finished second with an 11-dive total of 432 points and Sami was fourth with 401.95 during Tuesday’s diving competition. Two days later, the Bobcats finished last out of five teams in the final conference standings, compiling 253 points along the way. Second-ranked Dowling Catholic was the conference champion with 548 points, winning 11 of 12 events.

The Bobcats’ best swimming finisher was Zoe Beals, who brought home third place in the 50-yard freestyle in a time of 25.77 seconds. She also scored fifth in the 100 freestyle (58.35), and was a member of two MHS relays. The 200 medley relay, consisting of Taylor Hrabak, Klaudia Hernandez, Shakira Herrera and Beals, was fifth in 2:03.17, while the 400 freestyle foursome of Hraback, Herrera, Beals and Cori Jorgenson scored fourth in 4:00.27.

Herrera added a fifth-place finish in the 100 butterfly, and the 200 freestyle quartet of Herrera, Hrabak, Hernandez and Jorgenson was fifth in 1:51.08.

Hrabak garnered the Bobcats’ only other finish inside the top 10, taking ninth in the 500 freestyle in 5:57.14.
