MCC volleyball nets 20th victory, sweeps Ellsworth

The Marshalltown Community College volleyball team won its second-straight game on Monday night with a three-set sweep of Ellsworth, 25-20, 25-17, 26-24.

After losing five-straight games, the Tigers end the year on a high note with back-to-back wins over Iowa Lakes and Ellsworth to finish at 20-14. Head coach Justin Hoskins said reaching the 20-win mark is a nice achievement for his young team.

“Twenty wins is a good accomplishment for our program,” Hoskins said. “It’s something that our girls and the school should be proud of, but we’ve got a tournament coming up this weekend and we’re hoping to add to our win total.”

MCC starts off the NJCAA Division I District J tournament on Friday with a matchup against Indian Hills, set for a first-serve at 3 p.m. in Council Bluffs.
