Second-half rally lifts Tigers past DCTC
ROSEMOUNT, Minn. — The NJCAA Division I No. 13 Marshalltown Community College men’s soccer team earned yet another win on Friday by taking down Dakota County Technical College on the road 6-0.
The win was the second-straight shutout for the Tigers, who hadn’t held a team scoreless previous to the recent streak.
All of the scoring for MCC came in the second half, as the Tigers and Blue Knights were both scoreless in the first. David Kromah got things rolling with a goal in the 49th minute, then Eneko Lasheras found the back of the net twice in the 53rd and 60th minutes.
Leading scorer Kino Ryosuke added his 18th goal of the season with a 65th minute goal, then Bruno Osorio scored a pair to end the game for the Tigers.
The win improves MCC to 9-1 overall and 5-1 in ICCAC play, while DCTC falls to 4-9-1 and 0-5-1.
Lasheras said the first half of the season has been kind to the Tigers, but they still have some improvement left to make.
“I think we have done a great job in the first half of the season but now we have the hard part,” Lasheras said. “We still have to play Indian Hills and Iowa Western and we are motivated and ready for the challenge. I don’t see ourselves and underdogs in these matchups and I think we can win this conference and move on.”
MCC travels to White Bear Lake, Minn., Sunday to face Century College at noon.
