MCC’s Colbert and ex-Bobcat are all-region volleyballers

Jesenia Colbert and Leiah Paustian

Jesenia Colbert was named as one of seven all-region selections by the ICCAC for her work with Marshalltown Community College volleyball this year.

Colbert led the Tigers with 418 kills and 3.57 kills per set, both of which were third-best in the conference. She was a key fixture on an MCC team that featured only freshman, and that improved its win total from 12 wins in 2016 to 20 this year.

Marshalltown native Leiah Paustian, a 2016 graduate from MHS, also received some postseason honors from her work with DMACC volleyball. Paustian was named to the ICCAC Division II All-Conference Team as a setter, as well as being selected to the All-Region XI-B first team.

Paustian finished second in the conference with 9.3 assists per set, and she finished with 1,249 assists on the year.
