MHS’ Vance, Davis named Co-Players of the Year

Cole Davis and Nate Vance

Marshalltown senior Nate Vance and sophomore Cole Davis were given yet another award from their spectacular golf season, as they were both recently named Co-Players of the Year by the Iowa High School Golf Coaches Association.

Vance and Davis were the two top golfers on this year’s state champion team for the Bobcats, with both of them finishing the state tournament at Elmwood Country Club last month tied for the top spot with Jake Marvelli and Benjamin Krapfl from Indianola. Vance won the individual title by scoring an eagle on the 18th in the first playoff hole.

Vance and Davis also recently played together in the Greenwood Cup in Houston, where they combined to finish in 19th with a two-day score of 144 at River Oaks Country Club.
